The Livonian festival in Mazirbe takes place on the first Saturday of August. Almost all representatives of this nationality come to the festival. The festival starts with the prayer in the Mazirbe church. The Livonian green-white-blue flag is raised for this festival at the Livonian public house, procession to the sea is held, Livonian songs are sung, and the ancient roots of the people are strengthen. The slogan of the union of the Livonians is forged near the public house. Min rov um min ov! (Му people is my honor!). The Livonians are indigenous inhabitants of Latvia, this Finno-Ugric people is the second indigenous ethnos of Latvia. At present there are not many of them, time and assimilation have done their work. Nevertheless, every year at the first weekend of August the Livonians and their friends gather in the Livonian capital Mazirbe to celebrate traditionally the Livonian festival.
