Today, 26 April, is Memorial Day of the first Perm bishop St. Stephen of Perm. He had preached the Orthodoxy to Komi people for many years. It was him who created the alphabet for Komi and translated main ecclesiastical texts for them. Russian Orthodox Church canonizes him; he is especially hallowed here in Perm region.

The chappel of St. Stephen of Perm was laid in Perm 128 years ago at this very day. The building had served as parish school, library and music school at different times. Now the Orthodox educational and spiritual center is located there as well as icon-painting department of Perm cerical school, Sunday school and editorial office of the "Orthodox Perm" newspaper.
