11th International Congress of Finno-Ugric Studies "Fenno-Ugric Peoples and Languages in the 21st Century".

From August 9-14 in the university town of Piliscsaba, participants will more closely study Finno-Ugric and Samoyedic languages and cultures, along with wider Finno-Ugric themed topics. At the beginning of the 21th century, research on endangered minority languages and cultures is one of the most important scientific issues. About this reported  FennoUgria Asutus.

Four sections will work at the congress: linguistics, ethnology and folklore, literature and history, archeology and anthropology. Speeches will be given in four manners: invited speeches, section speeches (20 minutes), stand presentations and symposiums.

Speeches will be given in English-, Russian- or various Finno-Ugric languages. The first International Congress for Fenno-Ugric Studies was held in 1960 in Budapest by the initiative of Hungarian and Finnish scientists. Since this time, congresses have been organized every five years in various places.

The second congress took place in Helsinki in 1965, the third in 1970 in Tallinn, the fourth in 1975 again in Budapest, the fifth in 1980 in Turku, the sixth in 1985 in Syktyvkar, the seventh in 1990 in Debrecen, the eighth in 1995 in Jyväskylä, the ninth in 2000 in Tartu and the tenth was in Joshkar-Olas.
