Celestial stone was found in the outskirts of the village Oshib of the Kudymkarsky district, the Perm Territory. The locals know about this stone from times immemorial. Nobody remembers exactly how and from where it appeared. In the Komi-permyatsky language it is called “galya”.

A little about the legends of the stone:

1. In the ancient times the stone fell from the sky as a heavenly gift to the locals, that’s why in Komi it is called “en iz” (a celestial stone send by the God).

2. The stone is considered to be a part of Tunguska meteorite fell in the remotest depths of the Siberian taiga in 1909. It was those places where the flight path of the meteorite was.

3. The boulder appeared together with the glacier more than 100 thousand years ago, and after the ablation of the glacier was left in the outskirts of the village Oshib.

In the ancient times the local youths made up meetings and dances round the stone. On the Trinity the inhabitants of the village Oshib brought gifts such as food and drinks to the stone and performed different magic rites.
