From August, 25 to 28, conference halls of the University of Oulu held plenary sessions, participants of the congress worked in Prose and Lyric Poetry, Children's Books, Foreign Literature in Translation, Publishing breakup groups. Participants of the congress discussed theoretical issues of translation, development of children's literature and interaction of cultures, issues of copyright, studied experience of printing books in languages of Finno-Ugric peoples. Besides, participants and visitors of the forum got acquainted with book novelties, newspapers and magazines on Karelian, Veppsian and Finnish languages.

Publishing houses from foreign countries and Russian republics also pleased with a variety of book production. It is interesting to note, that among other books publishing houses and unions of writers from Hungary and Estonia presented collections of Karelian poet Vladimir Brendoev in translation into Estonian language and of Veppsian poet Nikolay Abramov in translation into Hungarian and Estonian languages released this summer.
