The museum of Torum-Maa08.09.2010, 08:49 — administratorThe ethnographic museum complex of Torum-Maa situated in the open air was founded in 1987 in Khanty-Mansiisk. It is aimed at the reconstruction of traditional life of the native peoples: Khanty and Mansi. While seeing the dwelling houses, household buildings and those of religious purpose situated in the territory of the complex, tourists can have a visual notion of how wonderfully rich and original the cultural and family life of Obsko-Ugric peoples was. In a hidden corner of the area there is a religious place where one can find the statues of idols similar to those worshipped by Khanty and Mansi from time immemoria. The ethnographic museum complex of Torum-Maa is considered a wonderful place for the native holidays and rites like, for example, the so-called igrishcha –a public merry-making with bears.
