Seminar on realization of the international project “Nenets Radio” took place in Naryan-Mar. Representatives of the Nenets People Association “Yasavey”, executive branch of the government, local television and radio broadcasting company, developers and managers of international project from Norway and Canada took part in the event.

Foreign partners of the project made a report about work and technological capacities of radio network “Aboriginal Voices” in Canada and about experience of creation of the Sami Radio in the Murmansk region. Director of the Nenets television and radio broadcasting company Tatyana Skornyakova told about the news and the program in the Nenets language “Argish”. She considers realization of the project “Nenets Radio” to be aimed at preservation of the Nenets language and culture of the indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North.

The participants of the seminar worked out a plan of the project “Nenets Radio” and discussed the possibilities of creation of the national broadcasting office, content of the programs, teaching the Nenets language. The resolution to go on working in this direction was passed as a result of the meeting. The project “Nenets Radio” will be realized on the material and technical basis of Regional State Department “Nenets Broadcasting Company”.

Training of the journalists for the national broadcasting starts in September 2011.
