Finno-Ugric Students’ Conference started with a love

The XXVIIth International Finno-Ugric Students’ Conference (IFUSCO) started in Budapest, Hungary on May, 9. Institute of Hungarian Language and of Finno-Ugrian Studies of the Eötvös Loránd university of the Budapest is the place of young scientists meeting. Students, under- and post-graduate students and young scientists from Finland, Estonia and Finno-Ugric republics and regions of Russia arrived to Budapest to take part in the conference/

Professor Ferents Havash, head of Institute of Hungarian Language and of Finno-Ugrian Studies opened the forum with speech. He has noticed that fact that the Finno-Ugric department in Budapest is oldest of all similar departments as has been based in 1872. «Thereby is even more pleasant that here already the second time for last decade we accepts Finno-Ugric students», Havash underlined.

He said such meetings are extremely necessary for young scientists as it is the present, "live" experience for them. Student's youth conferences give the scientific skills. «Besides, it is fine possibility to get new friends and, probably, even to meet the love», - the professor has noticed.

Conference work will last till May, 11. Conference schedule includes work of sections «Finno-Ugric linguistics is supposed: the past, present, future», «Traditions, folklore, ethnology», «Archeology, history, museology», «Sociology, law, education», «Literary criticism».


Participants of a forum are provided with the extensive cultural program which includes an exhibition of Hungarian needlewomen works, manufacturing of Estonian national toys, a concert, viewing of the first Udmurt film «Uzy-Bory», taken place in the conference opening day, and dances of the various Finno-Ugric peoples.
