The course for those willing to study peculiarly Karelian dialect of Karelian language took place in Kuusamo (Finland), Official portal Republic of Karelia informs.
Organized for the first time 20 years ago in the settlement of Kalevala under the initiative of the Union of Karelian People and the Karelian Educational Society of Finland for many people it had become a starting point in studying Karelian language and culture.
People of different trades come to take a course. These are teachers of Karelian language, teachers of pre-school institutions, cultural workers, journalists, scientists, actors of the National Theatre of Karelia, students of higher educational institutions.
Besides the training program participants of the course have got acquainted with activity of the Karelian Educational Society of Finland, with work of local public organizations. They enjoyed familiarization tours on the town, presentations of recently published books in Karelian language, concerts of folk music. Teachers of the course Valentine Karakina and Olga Karlova are sure that the knowledge people gain during the course, their ability to communicate in their native language give participants a new impulse in studying Karelian language and culture.
It is planned, that next course will take place in the Karelian village of Juškozero which in 2010 celebrated its 425 anniversary.
