It is not a great surprise any more that Kudymkar became a town, which is well-known not only in Russia but also in Europe. However, the last two months of the realization of “Culture Reloaded“ make the capital of the Permian Komi District famous in the Finno-Ugric community thanks to the International Beauty Contest “Northstar“, whose terms were postponed for December, as well as on the entire planet thanks to the participation of Kudymkar in the Worldwide Reading of works by Heinrich von Kleist on November 21st, site KUDYMKAR | CULTURE RELOADED reports.
As Tatyana KLIMOVA, Head of the Ethnocultural Department at the Ministry of the Affairs of the Permian Komi District, reported at another press ryt, which took place at the Executive Office of “Culture Reloaded“, the preliminiary stage of the International Beauty Contest for Finno-Ugric Girls “Northstar – 2011“, which will be held in Kudymkar, has been re-scheduled for the period from December 1-5, 2011, whereas the event’s final will be arranged at the Cultural and Business Centre of the City of Perm on December 7th.
’Correction of terms for the carrying-out of the Contest is connected with that we would like to attract attention of the entire Finno-Ugric community to it’, explained the decision of the Organizing Committee Igor BYKARIZ, Head of the Permian Komi District – Minister of the Perm Region. ’From December 1-3, 2011, the Third Finno-Ugric Socioeconomic Forum will take place in Kudymkar with the traditional participation of leading experts and auditors from Finno-Ugric regions of the Russian Federation as well as Estonia, Finland, and Hungary. So, we are approaching a synergetic effect in the Finno-Ugric world by having announced the Beauty Contest for the same dates’.
The girls will have an opportunity to get familiar with the Permian Komi people, its culture, ethnic traditions, cuisine at the preliminiary stage. A town tour, visits to the theatre building being constructed as well as the Subbotin-Permyak Museum, interaction with handicraft masters will be organized for them, performances by folklore bands will be shown. Simultaneously, common numbers will be prepared, solo appearances will be trained, defile and address on stage will be learnt.
In the meantime, a series of literatural events is on-going at the multicultural space “Ethnosquat“. After a successful poetic experience with participation of writers from Kudymkar and Perm in October, local poets decided to have an own evening on November 11th. After 1.5 weeks, on November 21st, on the 200th anniversary from the day of death of Heinrich von Kleist, Kudymkar will be joining Worldwide Reading of works by the classic writer of the German literature.
’The idea of the Worldwide Reading belongs to the Heinrich von Kleist’s Society (Cologne) and the Berlin Literature Festival’, told Svetlana KOLCHURINA, Executive Director of “Culture Reloaded”. ‘On November 21st, amators of the talent of the German playwright, writer, and poet will contribute to his memory in different areas of the planet – from Germany to Portugal, from Island to Indonesia, from the USA to New Zealand. So, Kudymkar identifies itself on the world map by participating in this action’. Reading in Kudymkar will be held at the “Ethnosquat“ from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. in Russian, English, and German. One of the excerpts is going to be recited in Permian Komi. Everybody is welcome – both as a spectator and a reader.
