The Sami Parliament of Norway has appointed members to the area boards for reindeer husbandry from 2012 to 2015, office of the Sami Parliament reports.

- Area Boards are an important part of management and management of reindeer husbandry. A total of six areas for reindeer herding Sami in Norway. In each grazing area will be an area control. Area boards report on its activities to the Reindeer Husbandry Board.

Every area board shall consist of 5 or 7 members with personal deputies. The County Council determines the number of members in the area board. The Boards are appointed for 4 year terms for the same term as the county councils. The County Council will appoint 3, possibly 4 members and alternates. The Sami Parliament appoints two, or three members and alternates. County Council and the Sami Parliament are in consultation to ensure that there is a balance between gender, geography, sciences and general conditions on the boards.

The Sami Parliament has appointed a chairman and vice chairman of area boards in Eastern Finnmark, West Finnmark, Troms and Nordland. The Sami Parliament has proposed managers and deputy to the area boards in North Trondelag and South Trondelag / Hedmark.
