The Youth Association of the Finno-Ugric People (YAFUP) carried out for the first time the presentation of the Finno-Ugric people and Finno-Ugric movement in United Nations Organization headquarters.

Special action «Finno-Ugric people of Eurasia - together after thousand years» was held in frameworks of XI session of the Constant forum of U.N.O. concerning the native people. History and presuppositions of creation of the international Finno-Ugric movement and the models of modern culture of the native Finno-Ugric people have been presented to diplomats, members of the forum and representatives of the aboriginal nations of the world. The event was opened by the demonstration of fragments from Lennarta Mary's film (the president of Estonia in 1992-2001) «People of a waterfowl».
The president of The Youth Association of the Finno-Ugric People Vasily Nemechkin presented structure, purposes and priorities of the Finno-Ugric movement. He also emphasized the bright phenomena of the modern Finno-Ugric culture. Visitors saw a performance of the participants of popular competition «Eurovision -2012» - the Udmurt folk group «Buranovsky grandmothers». The song on the Erzya language of the mokshano-erzjanskoj group "Тоrаmа" and the informal youth hymn Revontulet ("Polar lights") were presented on Lappish, Mansi, Udmurt, Izhora and Estonian.
The moderator of the event, the member of the Youth Association of the Finno-Ugric People from Estonia Oliver Loode presented one of the significant phenomena in the modern world of communications – the Estonian invention Skype. When a leader of the organization «Friends of the related people» (Finland), vice-president of YAFUP Sampsa Holopajnen and the participants of XXVIII International Conference of students of the Finno-Ugrovedov IFUSCO from the Estonian city of Tartu appeared on the screen by means of Skype, it became clear how the Finno-Ugric movement can use his own creations.
The special event of the Youth Association of the Finno-Ugric People was held for the popularization of the Finno-Ugric people in the U.N.O., in the intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations and among the native nations of the world. In 2011 X Congress of YAFUP accepted the decision about the systematic participation in the work of mechanisms of the U.N.O. In September YAFUP will offer to delegates of the World Congress of Finno-Ugric people to carry out the Days of Finno-Ugric people in the U.N.O.
