Komi was praised by the UN for the authorities' attention to the national media (video)

At the United Nations Permanent Forum concerning radical nations of the world the efforts of the Komi administration to preserve the language and culture of the Komi people, and also the attention for national media were highly appreciated. A videoclip about the Komi Republic was presented on interactive dialogue within the limits of   Permanent Forum  the United Nations concerning the radical people in the International Day of the World's Indigenous People on August, 9th.

Video provided by the Government of the Republic of Komi, was shown the first of four other videos in the interactive dialogue after the report of Lily Valtchanova, the officer on cultural questions of UNESCO. The presentation was received very positively. In contrast to other video presentations showing achievements and problems of the radical people of the different countries in creation and the organization of work of own mass-media, not supported by the authorities, the videoclip from Komi became a vivid example of successful practice of the regional government in use of mass-media for development of culture, language and heritage of the radical Komi people, - the United Nations secretary of Permanent Forum noted.

                                     

The chairman of the UN Permanent Forum concerning the radical people Edward John expressed gratitude to the Government of Komi for the contribution to creation of valuable and interesting dialogue in celebration of the International Day of Indigenous People.
