Finno-Ugric traditional games entering into official calendar of the Sport Ministry of Russia

The Federation of Traditional Games anf Ethnosport of Russia (FTGER) appealed to the Ministry of Sport of Russian Federation and the authorities of the Russian regions with the proposal to bring in the United schedule of physical culture and sport of the Ministry of Sports of Russian Federation in 2013 traditional games of the Finno-Ugric and Samoyed peoples. The president of FTGER, cultural anthropologist Alexey Kylasov has informed the Media centre FINUGOR about it.

So, it is planned to carry out in 2013 two important events on the Finno-Ugric sports: Summer Games - traditional game in Mordovia in August "Tyushtyan nalksemat" (traditional wrestling style of Moksha and Erzya peoples), winter - the Festival of Northern Traditional Games in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area in March as a part of the traditional feast of deer farming. "The competitions are expected to be carried out in various Finno-Ugric and Samoyed regions such as Khanty-Mansiysk, Petrozavodsk... Now it is important to invite for the participation peoples from the Finno-Ugric regions, to solve organizational questions," - A.Kylasov said.

According to him, the initiative will be announced at the VI World Congress of Finno-Ugric the Chairman of the International Advisory Committee of the Finno-Ugric peoples Valery Markov - as a member of the executive committee of FTGER.
