The 6th International ethnofuturist symposium “Odo Maran” will be held in Udmutia from 1 to 11 August. This year guests will be greeted by Besermenian village Yunda of Balezinsky district, reports the Ministry of national policy of Udmurtia, which is also provides support to the project. The main theme of the Symposium «Odo Maran» will be the creation of personal mythology on the basis of national, Finno-Ugric, Turkic, Slavic, which becomes a metaphor of human life and a separate nation.
At present it is known that the festival-symposium will be attended by 28 artists and creative people of Udmurtia, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Mari El, Mordovia, Penza region, Estonia and Finland. Each artist will create at least 3 works. Two of them - on a free theme, and one will reflect mythological foundations of Besermenian people. Artists will use different techniques, such as painting on fabric and corrugated cardboard with clay, and only with black and acrylic paints with installation and assemblage. Some artists also plan to create video art, authentic performances on the basis of Besermenian mythopoetics, which will be shown at the exhibition opening. Participants of the symposium will also open creative cafes and workshops, where guests will be able to discuss the problems of art, Besermenian people, pets and show the creative works of artists.
At the end of the symposium participants will prepare happenings "Odo Maran" and will show their works at the exhibition opening in the village Yunda on August 10. It will also be possible to see the artists’ works in Izhevsk, probably in October.
The sixth Symposium project "Odo Maran" is a continuation and an integral part of the project "ethnofuturistic Symposium - The Art of Light" and the logical continuation of the project "ethnofuturistic fetsival", which was launched in 1998. The project, as a tool for networking and learning technology in the field of visual arts for creative groups, revealed to life 11 ethnofuturistic international festivals and 5 creative workshops.
