In Komi continues the development of preschool education in the Komi language

An opening of Komi language immersion groups within All-over-the Russia project "Finno-Ugric Languages and Cultures in Preschool Education" successfully proceeds in Komi preschool educational institutions now.  The head of the national problems of preschool education’s laboratory of Komi republican education development institute, the head of Finno-Ugric educational and methodical set in native languages' authors' association Zoya Ostapova told this information to the FINUGOR centre.

According to her words, the kindergarten No. 68 in the Ezhva district of Syktyvkar has recently began to work within the program of language immersion. "Komi voytir" social movement representatives from Ezhva had played a big role in it - Noted Ostapova.Bilingual groups are already working in kindergartens of Storozhevsk village (Kortkerossky area), Pazhga village (Syktyvdinsky area) and Kuratovo village (Sysolsky area). 

Local kindergarten commenced a profound studying of Komi language In Kebanjel (Ust-Kulomsky area). 
Komi-speaking groups continue their work in kindergarten No. 93 of Syktyvkar, and those ones of Ust-Kul and Koslan (Ust-Kulomsky and Udorsky areas )."There is a support and interest not only from the side of our teachers, but also from the republic’s Education Ministry. 
They try to open Komi groups in preschool institutions through competitions and grants for innovative projects; application of language immersion’s technique in other language and creation of bilingual environment – is a real innovation", - explained the interlocutor. 
“Standards of preschool education entered now in Russia create rather favorable environment for our activity. 
Each preschool institution has the right to develop their educational program independently and conduct work statistics about trainings in native language, - emphasized Z.Ostapova.–Bilingualism, provided by such techniques, gives a big advantage for the child. 
Neurophysiological researchers denote that it has a positive effect on brainwork, vascular system;  bilingual people are quicker and more flexible to react within life situations, they have more adoptive opportunities for creative decisions. From one side the most important issue here is not to prevent the child to master two languages at once, from another, teachers should make this process interesting. For example, we learned to speak Russian though Komi language was our native language since childhood.”
"Finno-Ugric Languages and Cultures in Preschool Education” project coordinators’ meeting will pass in Syktyvkar At the end of October, and as for All-over-the Russia’s teachers working on language immersion models’ seminar,  it will take place in Saransk at the end of November. 
About 40 people from different regions will participate. 
It is the third year of "Finno-Ugric languages and cultures in preschool education" existence already and it is interesting to analyse the results which have arisen during realization of the problem", - reported Z.Ostapova
