It appeared that according to poll, 10 children dream to learn the Veps language, 140 children wishe to master the Karelian language, and the appreciators of the Finnish language were gathered so many that now it is unknown how to satisfy this demand, "Vedomosti Karelia" informs.

We will remind that in the spring of last year, for example, in the gymnasium №17 which was always famous for the strong teaching of Finnish, began to talk about reducing of studying this language at elementary school. Practically to zero. That time it was also made the certain pulls to which the public had a mass of claims. Fortunately, not indifferent activists and the Minister of Education managed to defend the studying of Finnish in this educational institution. Now, for example, it becomes clear that the quantity of wishing in the city is very high. We are ready to seat down at "Suomen kielen oppikirja" the 891 first graders!

E.Gerasimova informed that for a demand there is also an offer. At Finno-Ugric school of a name of Lennrot 4 first classes will open where they will learn all three languages (108 people). Karelian and Finnish will be able to learn in two classes at school № 2 (54 persons). Four classes of Finnish will gather in the 34th school. The 17th gymnasium will give the chance to make it for 75 first graders in three classes. In some other educational institutions there is an opportunity to learn Finnish facultatively or as the second foreign, since the fifth class. It isn't difficult to consider that places on all nevertheless will not suffice.

And a little more figures. Currently in Petrozavodsk the Karelian language is learned already by 249 people, 34 — Veps and 1796 — Finnish. By the way, the problem with manuals for radical languages of Karelia still is particularly acute. However, it became now easier. It appeared that at last almost all necessary textbooks for elementary school (a livvikovsky adverb, actually Karelian language, Veps and Finnish) are published. It only stays necessary to publish in March the textbook of the Veps language for 4 classes — and there will be a complete set. Last year 1 million 600 thousand budget money were spent for it. In it it is allocated slightly less — 1.200 thousand — and will be published sets for the 5th classes on all languages.
