The Finno-Ugrians will "synchronize the clocks" between the World congresses in Petrozavodsk

An international conference of Finno-Ugric peoples will be held in Petrozavodsk on 3-4th September. As reported by the organizers of the forum to the infocenter FINUGOR - the forum will be aimed at discussing actual problems of Finno-Ugric peoples and summarizing the results of the 6th World Congress of Finno-Ugric peoples in Hungary in 2012. The preparation of the 7th World Congress in Lahti in 2016 will also be discussed, as well as the problem of working out a common position on the agenda of the world conference of indigenous peoples of the world in New York.

The conference inPetrozavodskwill be held by an international Advisory Committee of Finno-Ugric peoples, the government ofKareliaand the Republican youth public organization Nuori Karjala.

The authorised agencies of the peoples and public organizations involved in the Finno-Ugric movement send delegates according to quotas established by the ICCFUP*: nations with a population over 100 thousand people (Hungarians, Komi, Mari, Moksha, Udmurts, Finns, Erzya, Estonians) will delegate 4 representatives, with a population from 10 thousand to 100 thousand people (the Karelians, Kvens, Komi-Permyak, Mansi, Nenets, Saami, Tver Karelians, Finns-ingermanlanders, Khanty) - 3 representatives, up to 10 thousand people (Vepses, Vod, Izhora, Livs, Nganasans, Selkups, Seto) - 2 representatives.

Different experts, supervisors and journalists are also invited to participate in the forum.

The cultural program of the forum includes a visit to the National theatre, a tour through Petrozavodsk and an opportunity to visit the national Museum of Karelia and the Museum of fine arts. The participants will also visit the gala night devoted to the 25th anniversary of the Union of Karelian people, the Society of Vepsian culture and Ingermanland Union of Finns of Karelia.

The decisions of the forum will be advisory for the Finno-Ugric peoples. They also will be crucial for the future work of the ICCFUP.
