The sitting of the presidium of the All-Russian public movement "The Association of Finno-Ugric peoples of the Russian Federation" will take place in Salekhard on the 13th of March, IA «Sever-Press» reporst.
Among the participants of the activity there are representatives of the Ministry for culture of the Russian Federation and executive bodies of the state power of the Republics of Mariy El, Mordovia, Karelia, Komi, Udmurtia, Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Perm Krai, Kirov Oblast, deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
Within the sitting it is planned to discuss issues of support of ethno-cultural originality of Finno-Ugric and Samoyedic peoples residing in Yamal and also the plan of work of the association for this year. Besides, it is planned to conduct meetings of representatives of the public movement with representatives of northern indigenous ethnic minorities of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the government of Yamal and executive bodies of the state power of the region.
The Association of Finno-Ugric peoples of Russia was founded in 1992. It includes public national associations of the Republics of Karelia, Komi, Mariy El, Mordovia, Udmurtia and also Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug and Perm Krai.
The basic tasks of the Association include: coordination of actions, mutual help and support in observation of rights and interests of Finno-Ugric peoples, creation of preconditions for formation of the unified socioeconomic, cultural and informational space. The Association of Finno-Ugric Peoples is represented within the International Congress of Finno-Ugric Peoples, which includes Hungary, Russia, Finland and Estonia, as the press-service of the governor of Yamal informs.
