Scientists and social activists of Udmurtiya estimated the Congress of Finno-Ugric peoples in Hungary as "cold"

In Izhevsk in the House of Scientists a round table devoted to discussion of the results of the VI World Congress of Finno-Ugric peoples in the Hungarian town of Siofok and its role for the country was held on September 25th. According to the member of "Peachey Kenesh" - the executive committee of Vseudmurtskoy Association "Udmurt Kenesh", director of the scientists Izhevsk, political analyst Leonid Gonin, the meeting was attended by representatives of the Udmurt delegation in Congress and the scientific community of the country.

The roundtable participants noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin did not welcome the Congress. Meanwhile, the President of Hungary, Finland and Estonia made welcoming speeches to the participants of the Congress in Siofok. "Such a cold attitude of the president of Russia - what is it? What does it say? How to interpret this signal? Does Putin think it is unnecessary to show respect to the Finno-Ugric world – as he could not come himself to Congress? "- L.Gonin expressed indignation.

The participants also drew attention to the fact that for the first time in the history of Congress welcome speeches were made by people in their native languages. The final resolution of the Congress does not have reference to the authorities of the countries about the essential problems of Finno-Ugric and Samoyed peoples, but only to national organizations of ethnoses. “It also was astonishing for the public, after all we live within the limits of laws which are defined by the state, but the sphere of education and culture in most cases depends on the budget financing," - the interlocutor said.
