The Besermyans enjoy wearing bright and colourful things; red is in special favour. Winter clothes are checked, summer ones are striped. Festive summer costume consists of several articles: a smart shirt, with richly decorated belt, sleeves and particularly adorned breast; over the shirt they wear the so-called zybyn, which resembles an apron of sand colour, with decorated hem and breast. Over zybyn they put on a white apron, smartly and colourfully embroidered.
Besides, the Besermyan women wear a beautiful kerchief, which was put on in Tatar manner: over the cap, so-called kashpu.
The Besermyan women wear trousers loose in the seat, up to the ankles, and the apron without breast (only elderly women wear one with breast). Loose outer clothing is represented by the robe. Different pectorals are part and parcel of women’s traditional costume.
Some traditional Chuvash elements can be noticed in the Besermyan women’s clothes.
Men’s traditional clothes have something in common with Udmurt and Russian national costumes.Clothes are usually made of cloth and homespun coarse motley cotton fabric.
