The ambassador of Estonia supports the preservation of Komi-Permian language

The ambassador of Estonia in Russian Federation Juri Luik in company of the ambassador of Finland Hann Himanen and the deputy of the Hungarian ambassador Ference Nad-Rebec visited the Permian Land and Komi-Permian District, Perm and Kudymkar from 8 to 11 October.

As the embassy f Estonia in Moscow said to media center FINUGOR, the main aim of this visit were the acquaintances with the representatives of Finno-Ugric nationalities and most of all with Komi-Permian, the receipt of information about their activity, interests and problems, the discussion of the possibilities of collaboration. Besides the ambassadors of Finno-Ugric countries met with the representatives of Mari and Udmurt. J. Luik also met with the researchers of Estonian culture and traditions and with the carries of Estonian traditions living in the region, in that number, with Alexsander Chernykh - the author of the book “The Estonian in Permian Land: the historical and ethnographical descriptions”.

 

The official meetings with the governor of Permian land Victor Basargin and with the deputy of city’s Government were held. The ambassadors also met with the minister of education and culture of Permian Land. The Estonian ambassador underlined the importance of preservation of living cultural variety and the support for preservation Komi-Permian language and culture and it’s development during these meetings. J. Luik advised to research different possibilities of inculcation of language in cyber space and to get the popularization of Komi-Permian language also beyond the bounds on this base.
