The Association for the Hungary-Russia cooperation emerged in Budapest

The Association «For the Hungary-Russia cooperation» in the name of Lev Tolstoi was founded in Budapest. The head of Eastern Europe and Central Asia Department of the Ministry for foreign affairs of Hungary Ernő Keskeny has informed FINUGOR Media Centre. He became one of founding fathers of new organization.

Scientists, politicians, teachers and art workers of Hungary met together on May, 12th to create the Association. The editor-in-chief of The Literary Newspaper author Yury Poljakov from Moscow represented Russia on the other hand.

Sándor Lezsák, well-known Hungarian politician has been elected as the honourable chairman of the Association.

The new public organization goals are assistance to development of political, economic, cultural and scientific communications between Russia and Hungary, informing about Russia at the Hungarian society and vice versa, russians and hungarians acquaintance with cultural values of each of the countries. «Russia always was the priority partner of Hungary and today is one of main actors of world politics, economy and culture, and will have that role in the future», - is told in the Association constituent declaration.

«We long thought how to name our society, - E.Keshken has told. – And as a result decided to stop on Tolstoy's name – he is wordly well-known not only as the writer, but also as the active public figure».
Keshkeny stressed that Association creation is very important step to development of cooperation of Hungary with Russia and though there are many politicians in the union, first of all it is public organization. A lot of businessmen who are extremely interested in contacts in Russia entered the organization.

The Association site while is accessible in the Hungarian language, soon there will be pages in Russian, has informed Keshkeny.
