In the ancient Karelian village Vedlozero the popularizing of the native language in non-standard ways have started. In the local shops the activists translated all the price tags and announcements from Russian into Karelian, and now they are going to record a karaoke disk with the Karelian songs. The representative of the Nuori Karjala organization Alexey Tsykarev reported to ITAR-TASS about it.

According to him, the idea to impart love to the Karelian language was born with so unusual methods at activists of the organization recently. Such forms of studying of language, he noted, are directed, first of all, on the youth which forgets the origin and the native speech. "For some days we translated all announcements and price tags in local shop that caused only a smile at visitors. Besides, communicating with the seller in the Karelian language, each buyer is given a linen package with the inscription in Karelian "Talk to me in the native language", - A.Tsykarev told.
Moreover, "Nuori Karjala" intends to find for the doctor who knows the native language and will be able to give the lecture for villagers about health.
According to A.Tsykarev, many people know language, but don't use it. "We want to introduce fashion for the native language, to create new opportunities to use it in everyday life, whether it is a usual campaign behind products in shop or a sit-round gathering in the local bar", - he explained.
Activists chose the villageVedlozero not incidentally. There is going a construction of the house of the Karelian language. Besides, the inhabitants have the newspaper in Karelian.
In the Republic of Karelia 45,5 thousands of Karelians live. As ITAR-TASS reported in the regional ministry of national policy questions, communications with public and religious associations, only 37 percent know the national language.
According to the findings of republic Ministry of Education, the Karelian language is learned by 2470 pupils at 26 schools. It is 13 percent more, than a year before.
