In 2003 in Khanty-Mansiysk for the first time appeared the creative school for children “Lylyng soum” (“Living tiny brook“). And in September 2007 the ethno cultural-educational center for children “Lylyng soum”. This center is only educational institution in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug which deals with preservation of cultural values of Ob Ugric people and theirs transfer to rising generation. In the center there are necessary conditions for studying all kinds of amateur art Khanty and Mansi people: instrumental music, folk songs and dances, drama, visual and applied arts; there was created a cultural environment where the native language can live and develop.

There is a folk-ethnographical group. Children from 7 to 18 years old are included in this group and they are members of small numbered peoples of the North. In creative activity of this group national instruments are used: taryg sypluv jyv, narsjuh, sankvyltap, tumran; folk dances both traditional and amateur; theatrical performances on the basis of folk works (tales, legends, myths). The collective more than once became the winner of urban, district and All-Russian contests. So, in June, 2009 it took first place in All-Russian art festival “Sochi Fest” in nomination “Folklore”, and in August, 2010 children took part in the 41st International folk festival “Liptalskiye Slavnosti” in Liptal, Czech Republic.
