In New York within carrying out the XIII session of the Permanent Forum of the UN concerning indigenous people, the presentation of the International program of the cultural capitals of the Finno-Ugric world on the example of the village Bygi of the Sharkansky region of Udmurtia took place. The village Bygi is the cultural capital of the Finno-Ugric world firstly in the history.
In the action the head of Program bureau of the cultural capitals Oliver Loode, the board members of the Youth Association of the Finno-Ugric People (YAFUP), activists and leaders of the international and all-Russian Finno-Ugric movement, representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry took part.
During presentation it was noted that this program, which is being realized in the village Bygi, is the new mechanism in development of the Finno-Ugric rural territory. For last half-year the village could draw attention of the international audience and show a bright example of cultural, social and economic development. For this period not less than 12 events with coverage of wide audience are held, more than 2500 people (from them not less than 1500 people are tourists) are attracted, not less than 200 thousand rubles of additional resources are received. The growth of civil initiative, unity, concernment, motivation among the population also is a good result of this program.
In completion of presentation at the Permanent Forum of the UN concerning indigenous people it was offered to promote development of this program and to apply its realization among indigenous people of the world.
