Idnakar, the site of ancient settlement, is considered the archaeological monument of all-Russian significance. The medieval settlement of Finno-Ugric tribes dating from IX-XIII centuries, is located at a distance of 4 km from the town of Glazov on the mountain of Soldyr, in Republic of Udmurtia.
Idnakar is distinguished from the other ancient settlements for a much greater occupied territory, reaching to 40000 sq.m, massive fortification, wonderful richness and variety of cultural life, including some unique stuff. This place was agricultural, handicraft, defensive and administrative centre of Northern Udmurts ethnic society.
In July, 1997 the cultural and historical preserve of Idnakar was founded.
It is the only archaeological museum and preserve in Republic of Udmurtia. Picturesque landscapes, surrounding the territory of ancient settlement, give an opportunity of combining historical and natural objects into one complex.
Now it is being planned to open a museum in Idnakar, it is expected to be a large museum complex in the open air.
