The Finno-Ugric culture center of The Komi Republic is transformed into the Peoples' friendship house

In 1992 the ministry of culture of the Komi Republic decreed the reform of the House of friendship and peace into the Finno-Ugric culture center of Komi. After more than 20 years by the decree of the region's head the center was transformed vice-versa into the Peoples' friendship house, reports the informational agency "KomiOnline".

"According to the idea of the Peoples' friendship house's development, it is the enlightener and coordinating center, that is open for all apoplectic of the republic. There are two new aims. The first is to do so, that people know about representative offices of all peoples that live at the territory of the Komi Republic. The second one is connected with the coordination of all national-cultural aytonomies' work and help them in realization of their prospects", - stated to "KomiOnline" the director of the institution Elena Savtenko.

She specified that earlier such a work was carried out by the Finno-Ugric center, but not in such a scale, that would appear after creation of the Friendship house. "The work with citizens will be wider and deeper. We will try to get municipalities with the help of regional centers to take part in it", - she explained.

The peoples friendship house will start a set of new projects. The largest of them is a creation of ethno-cultural school. "Together wit autonomies we will tell to schoolchildren and students about traditions, cultures, languages of peoples that live in Komi. We would like to create the interactive program using dipping into the culture. I.e. Children at lessons will sing, dance, create something by hands and virtual travel in different places they just heard. We hope that the school will be open in the new school year - explained the head of the Finno-Ugric cultural center.
