The two lawmakers expressed Hungary’s solidarity with Ukraine and commitment to its territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence. Németh stressed the need for the sides concerned to make every possible effort to settle the conflict in Eastern Ukraine peacefully, namely through the implementation of the Minsk agreement and by maintaining dialogue between Russia and other international players.

Németh said the Hungarian minority in western Ukrainian Transcarphia wants peace, stability and predictability above all, as well as a democratic Ukraine which can carry out constitutional reform, decentralisation and guarantee the rights pledged by the Kiev leadership. Hungary supports Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic integration and is strongly committed to its cyber security, he said. Hungary also frequently sends humanitarian aid to Transcarpathian Hungarians and to other parts of Ukraine, he noted.
