The chairman of the Finno-Ugric peoples’ support function in the parliament of Estonia Juku-Kalle Raid expressed disappointment by low political level at the completed the World Finno-Ugric and Samoyeds congress VI in Hungary. “Actually in Siofok was the Nonfinno-Ugric congress: congress “without eggs”, said the deputy in the interview to the media center FINUGOR.
“I think that at the previous congress in Khanty-Mansiysk 2008 one spoke more about real problems of the Finno-Ugric peoples; there were heard stronger protests. And now this problem was spoken little about. It is not a Finno-Ugric congress where one speak only about Putin, and only good points, - said the parliamentarian. – The head of the Mari delegation, for example, said that in Mari-El everything was good, but all Mari books for some reason were published supported by Estonia.”
Speaking about Valeriy Markov’s re-election at the post of the chairman of the International consultative Finno-Ugric peoples committee, Juku-Kalle noted: “It is not democracy when one man is at the head 20 years, it is a democracy game”.
The deputy promised that at the next congress that would be in the Finnish town Lahti 2016 would the more opened talk about real Finno-Ugric and Samoyed peoples’ problems. “And when the congress is, there will be more boldness – I will seek. I head the Finno-Ugric peoples’ support function in the parliament of Estonia, there are 30 people there, and in all in the parliament there are 101 deputes, so that our group is one of the largest ones. We will work, because you know that for us this question about the Finno-Ugric peoples is very important” – underlined Juku-Kalle Raid.
