The support group of the Finno-Ugric people in parliament of Estonia the vice speaker headed

The members of support group of the Finno-Ugric people in parliament of Estonia (Riygikogu) elected the new chairman of group of the first vice speaker of parliament, Laine Randjärv. Riygikogu's press service reports about it. We will remind, in connection with formation of new structure of the government of Estonia, the part of former cabinet ministers returned to parliament, in this connection powers of a number of deputies were suspended - among them since June, 2011 there was the head of Finno-Ugric group Juku-Kalle Raid.
"As we are the related people, we have to help each other and care of that all our people continued to live that any of them wasn't went to oblivion as it, unfortunately, happened in the past. We need to know history of our people, to understand their traditions", – Randjyarv noted.
The support group of the Finno-Ugric people in parliament of Estonia is engaged in drawing attention to the not numerous related people living in Russia, it cooperates with representatives of these people in Estonia. For today the group totals Riygikogu's 22 deputies from 101.


*** Laine Randjärv (a former surname is Jänes) was born in 1964 in Moscow. Her father was the Estonian, mother was the Russian, therefore L. Randjärv perfectly knows not only Estonian, but also Russian. Upon termination of postgraduate study, her parents got to Tartu. In 2002 she entered in Reform Party and became the vice-mayor of Tartu concerning culture and education. In 2004-2007 - she is the mayor of Tartu. In 2007-2011 - the Minister of Culture of Estonia. Following the results of elections of 2011, she held a post of the first vice speaker of parliament of Estonia.
In 2010, being the Minister of Culture of Estonia, L. Randjyarv addressed to the international public in the final of the competition "Seven Wonders of the Finno-Ugric World" which was carried out on the basis of FINUGOR media center.
