Udmurt ethnic organization Udmurt Kenesh celebrated on 25 November its 20th anniversary, FennoUgria reports. Udmurt Republic President Aleksandr Volkov came to greet members on the occasion.

Volkov awarded the more active members of the organization and spoke about the situation in the republic. He noted that over the last 20 years, Udmurt Kenesh has done good work in preserving as well as further developing Udmurt language and traditions.

Udmurt Kenesh (Udmurt Council) was founded during the autumn 1991 Udmurt Congress in Izhkar (Izhevsk).
