A new guide of Finno-Ugric and Sami peoples was published in Syktyvkar

The Finno-Ugric culture center of Russia published a reference book "Finno-Ugric and Sami peoples in ethno cultural variety of Russia". There are collected stories about peoples of Ural family of languages, reported the Informational center "Finnougoria".
The introductory article is devoted to the early stages of Finno-Ugric and Sami peoples' history. Materials on each people include questions of enthonim origin, historical development and setting, peculiarities of language, literature, religion, traditional affair and trade, national cuisine, holidays and ceremonies. Articles were prepared by famous scientists-ethnographers and specialists of ethno cultural centers from Finno-Ugric countries and regions of Russia. In publication there is a scheme of Ural peoples' parentage and a table of representatives’ number of Finno-Ugric and Sami peoples according to the censuses data as well.
Till the end of the year the publication will be sent to the institutions of culture, art and education, Finno-Ugric public organizations and creative unions in regions of Russia. The electronic version of the guide will be posted on the site www.finnougoria.ru

The publishing of the digest was realized with the supporting of the ministry of culture of Russian Federation and the State Russian House of folk art, the department of which is the Finno-Ugric culture center of Russia.
